Policeman killed in attack on Polio team in Mardan April 10, 2013 - Updated 1355 PKT 17 4 13 0 Print this story PESHAWAR: A Pakistani policeman was shot dead and another was wounded on Wednesday while escorting a polio vaccination team in Mardan, local officials said. No one has claimed responsibility for the killings. Wednesday's killing happened in the Parhoti neighbourhood of the town of Mardan on the second day of a three-day local anti-polio campaign. "One policeman was killed and other was wounded when two armed men riding a motorbike opened fire on the team comprising two females and one male member," senior local police official, Tahir Ayub told AFP. He said that the members of polio team remained unhurt in the attack. A senior local administration Zakaullah Khattak also confirmed the incident. (AFP)

ML-N decides to give party ticket to ex-MNA Sheikh Waqas’s father for NA-89

LAHORE: Muslim League-N has decided to give party ticket to the father of former member national assembly (MNA) Sheikh Waqas to contest election from the constituency NA-89, Geo News reported Wednesday.

ML-N sources said that the ex-MNA Sheikh Waqas was not given the party ticket for his being disqualified after his degree was declared fake and instead this ticket would be given to his father Sheikh Akram, who would be contesting election from NA-89.
